Verification policy

Verification is voluntary and not required to publish. It lets you show a badge on your public profile that gives people looking for an activity more confidence.

This is a translation. In case of any discrepancy, the Spanish version prevails.

The three verifications

  • Identity: for anyone with an account. Gives the “Verified identity” badge.
  • Tour guide: for anyone with a valid guide license, whether they organize on their own, in a club or with an agency. Gives the “Verified guide” badge.
  • Travel agency: for profiles of the “Agency or operator” type. Gives the “Verified agency” badge.
  • Guide and agency require having first submitted the identity verification.

What we ask for

  • Having your account's phone number verified.
  • Identity: first names, ID card (cédula) number, date of birth (of legal age), photos of the ID card and a selfie holding it. The same ID card can't be used on two accounts.
  • Guide: license type and number, its validity and a photo of the credential.
  • Agency: legal name, trade name, RUC, tourism registration number, your relationship with the agency and photos of the RUC certificate and of the tourism registration or the LUAF. If the RUC isn't in your name, an appointment or authorization.
  • Photos must be JPG, PNG or WebP and be complete and legible.

How it's reviewed

  • You request it from “Verification”, in your dashboard.
  • A team member reviews each request by hand, usually within 1 to 3 business days.
  • We may approve it, ask you for a correction (with the reason) or reject it. The result arrives in “Notifications”, in your dashboard.

Validity and removal

  • The badge is shown while the approval is valid; the guide badge also depends on the license's validity.
  • We may remove a badge if the information turns out to be false, if the license or registration stops being valid or if the profile breaks the rules.

Your documents

Documents are kept in private storage, only the reviewing team sees them and they are never published. Photos are reprocessed on upload to strip metadata. They are kept for up to 90 days after the request is closed.

What a badge means

That we reviewed the documents listed and they matched the information in the request. It is not a certification of the quality or safety of the activities: always confirm the details with the organizer.
